How does the dynamic bracket for the NFL playoffs operate?
Because the NFL playoffs are dynamic, the bracket shifts as the competition goes on. The top seeds left in each round will always have a home-field advantage.
The Ravens and 49ers will face the lowest seed in their conference—whether it's the No. 4 seed, the No. 7 seed, or anything in between—after the wild-card round. The remaining second-highest seed would play the remaining second-lowest seed.
The club with the highest seed left below them, not the one that defeated them, would gain home-field advantage in their conference championship game if either the 49ers or the Ravens are upset in the divisional round.
