LOS ANGELESOn On Tuesday night, December 26, the Los Angeles Clippers overcame a two-game losing run by winning 113–104 against the Charlotte Hornets, led by James Harden, who scored 20 of his 29 points in the first half.
After Kawhi Leonard was sidelined with a left hip injury, the Clippers won for the first time in three games thanks to Paul George's 25 points and Ivica Zubac's 18 points and 14 rebounds.
Los Angeles had gone nine games without a loss before going on a two-game skid.
Three days before, the Clippers had suffered a 37-point loss to the Boston Celtics at home.
The Hornets, who have now lost eight straight games, were led by Miles Bridges, who finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Terry Rozier and P.J. Washington chipped in with 18 points each. In December, Charlotte is 0–10 sans LaMelo Ball (ankle), who hasn't played since November 26.
For Charlotte, Nick Richards contributed 13 points and 10 rebounds. Due to right knee discomfort, Rozier could not play against the Denver Nuggets on Saturday, while Brandon Miller was sidelined due to an ankle injury on Tuesday.Before the Hornets closed the gap to 55–50 at halftime, the Clippers had led by as many as 10 points in the first half.After George made a 3-pointer in the third quarter, Los Angeles again led by ten points, 75-65.With 9:29 left, Charlotte took the lead with a 26-9 run that put them up 91-84.The fourth quarter began with the Hornets' 11-2 run as part of their comeback.With 3:58 left, the Clippers went on a 19-2 run, using three 3-pointers to grab a 103–93 lead. This demonstrated their desperation.Including the last four scores, Zubac scored six points throughout the run.With 1:26 left, George made a 3-pointer to give the Clippers a 101–100 advantage.Next up, Hornets: this Thursday against the Los Angeles Lakers.Clippers: Friday at home against the Memphis Grizzlies.
